This e-learning course is designed to increase the learner’s competence in effectively communicating with vaccine hesitant patients utilizing a well-researched approach to having challenging conversations with these patients. The course is relevant to any disagreements between clinicians and patients.

This program is designed for all patient-facing clinicians and staff.
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

1. Explain the importance of evaluating their own and their patient’s goals to help them enter into disagreement with greater intention and clarity.
2. Describe the psychological processes that shift disagreements into conflict.
3. Evaluate their own receptiveness to opposing views, including their strengths and weaknesses.
4. Recognize the difference between managing conflict by shifting intentions versus shifting behaviors.
5. Apply expressions of curiosity as a way to show receptive intentions and improve patient conversations.
6. Describe the HEAR framework as a way to express receptiveness when making their point to patients.
7. Demonstrate the use of personal narratives to support their position.
