This worksheet is a self-assessment tool from the CMSS Public Health Education Toolkit designed to help medical societies evaluate and improve their public health and population health education offerings. It is intended for education directors, CPD staff, and other leaders, and takes about 20–25 minutes to complete.

The worksheet has four parts:

1. <strong>Reflection on specialty-specific public health intersections</strong>  
   Societies are asked to identify how public health affects their members’ work, including non-clinical barriers to care, changing disease patterns, public health emergencies, legal/reporting obligations, and common patient/public questions.

2. <strong>Coverage assessment across eight topic areas</strong>  
   Societies rate whether they have no, minimal, some, or strong coverage in areas such as:
   - Public health systems
   - Health-related social needs
   - Disease surveillance and reporting
   - Partnering with public health agencies
   - Community resources and referral
   - Population health data
   - Emergency preparedness and response
   - Prevention, immunization, and screening

3. <strong>Infrastructure and capacity review</strong>  
   Societies answer yes/no questions about whether they offer CME/CPD credit, have staff or committee responsibility for public health, maintain public health agency partnerships, include public health in meetings or guidelines, publish public materials, use population data, or provide referral tools.

4. <strong>Priority setting</strong>  
   Based on the earlier responses, societies identify the biggest gaps, the most relevant topic area for members’ real needs, preferred education formats, needed resources, and whether they want to join CMSS’s Resource Hub working group.

The worksheet is not a scoring test. Instead, it helps societies decide where to start: early-stage societies should focus on one or two high-priority topics; those with mixed coverage should address the most important gaps; and societies with strong coverage can deepen partnerships or share models. CMSS invites societies to share results confidentially to help build the Resource Hub.
