Video Summary
The webinar focused on practical governance for adopting AI in healthcare, presented by Ami Bhatt, Chief Innovation Officer at the American College of Cardiology. She argued that AI governance has moved beyond policy statements and must now deliver three things: evidence of clinical benefit in real workflows, lifecycle oversight, and shared infrastructure.

Approval is only the beginning. Organizations should define how each tool will be monitored, updated, and decommissioned before deployment. Evaluation should be proportional to risk, distinguish administrative from clinical uses, assess equity and workflow fit, and remain tied to patient outcomes—not just model performance or cost savings.

Bhatt described cardiovascular AI applications, including diagnostic tools, wearables, and registries, while cautioning that finding disease earlier is not necessarily beneficial unless care can improve at that point. She also emphasized preparing clinicians to evaluate and use AI safely without expecting them to become engineers. For generative AI, users need guidance on effective prompting, verification, privacy, and the ways personalization or memory can influence responses.

In discussion, participants explored governance for different AI platforms, supporting physician-builders, testing workplace AI tools in controlled groups, and using societies’ guidelines and registries responsibly. Bhatt encouraged societies to collaborate, share lessons, and align adoption with their strategic priorities.
