Video Summary
The webinar explored how medical specialty societies and physician groups can use federal Transparency in Coverage data to strengthen payer negotiations. Dr. Gerald Maciola of Foresight Ventures AI argued that although insurers publish vast amounts of pricing data, it is difficult to use without cleaning, normalization, and specialty-specific context. He said Foresight processes the data into benchmarks and comparisons intended to help groups assess reimbursement, prepare negotiation scenarios, support independent dispute resolution, and identify practice-growth opportunities.

The company’s Navigate IQ platform includes Rate IQ, Negotiate IQ, and Growth IQ for groups, alongside Society IQ analytics intended to support education, advocacy, and reimbursement trend analysis. The presenters emphasized that specialty societies provide clinical context and governance, while individual groups make their own decisions. They described safeguards including de-identified, de-aggregated data and stressed that the platform is not designed to coordinate pricing, set rates, provide legal advice, or replace practice-management tools.

In discussion, speakers addressed antitrust and liability concerns, noting that societies’ role is primarily education and advocacy rather than direct negotiation. They shared examples of specialty-specific issues, such as emergency medicine acuity coding, surgery site-of-service differences, pediatric vaccine economics, and “ghost rates” that may distort benchmarks. They invited societies to develop focused pilots.
